Ah! Spring is in the air. It’s time to revitalize and welcome new growth. Not just personally, but for your Toastmasters Club as well. Anyone who is serious about health and fitness knows that to get better you should get a coach. If your club has dropped to 12 or fewer members and your membership has lagged in the past year, it’s time for a coach – a virtual coach.
District 27 has introduced our Virtual Coaching program where clubs with 12 or fewer members can receive free coaching on how to rejuvenate their club. The program, which debuted in early March, is shepherded by Robin Hylton, director of club growth for D27.
Hylton acknowledges the frustrating experience for clubs who do not have access to 1:1 mentorship and the district aims to remedy that with virtual coaching. There are 30 eligible clubs in our district, and while the program is voluntary, the clubs have received it well. “Our vision is to see 75% of clubs in D27 above 12 (members), and to share the knowledge with other clubs as leaders” Hylton adds.
The free Virtual Coaching sessions occur every second Monday at 7pm. The conference call is facilitated by experienced leaders, including the past District Director and other veteran Toastmasters. Attendees receive coaching on how to attract and retain new members, how to host a quality meeting, and innovative ways to revamp their meeting format. Growth goals can be difficult to reach and easy to miss, but don’t go it alone. Get support and encouragement. You can invest in your club’s strength by attending the free virtual coaching sessions. Look for the schedule on the D27 calendar, or –if you are a club vice-president for education (VPE) or vice-president for public relations (VPPR)—look for an email invitation.
