Speechcraft

Speechcraft, presented to you and your group by an experienced Toastmaster, is a program designed to teach the fundamentals of public speaking skills to Toastmasters members and non-members.

As a participant, you will have the opportunity to present up to six speeches, introduce other speakers and serve as an evaluator. The program is between four to eight sessions and gives you the opportunity to exercise  your communication and leadership skills.

The educational program covers a number of topics that play an important role in good public speaking, including how to:

  • Organize your speech
  • Speak without advanced preparation
  • Introduce another speaker
  • Evaluate another speaker
  • Use effective vocal variety and body language
  • Speak within time limits

There is a nominal fee, which generally covers the materials for the workshop, as well as an initial membership in Toastmasters. Your new membership will help you continue the learning process started as part of Speechcraft.

If you are a non-member and would like to learn more, contact the our District’s Program Quality Director.

If you are a District club, consider the many benefits of a Speechcraft session for your club, which can:

  • Build club membership
  • Give new members a helping hand with the different meeting roles
  • Reach out to the community
  • Give experienced members an opportunity to grow
  • Share the Toastmasters experience with others

A club who will host a Speechcraft program should order the Speechcraft Starter Kit from Toastmasters International.
